Seminar by Gael Cascioli (DLR) – « What can gravity tell us about Venus? »
9 juillet @ 14h00 - 15h00
Venus has fascinated humans since we were first able to turn our eyes toward it. Yet despite our natural fascination with the so-called Earth’s evil twin, we still have a limited understanding of the fundamental processes that shaped its interior, surface, and atmosphere. With the upcoming VERITAS and EnVision missions, foundational global datasets will be collected to address the major open questions about Venus. In this seminar, I focus on the exciting new gravity measurements these missions will deliver and how they can be used to resolve some of the major questions about its interior structure. I will also present recent results from modern reanalyses of the legacy Magellan data, providing tangible evidence that decades-old observations still have new science to offer.
