GeoPlaNet Project / Axes
GeoPlaNet focuses on the international structuration of research and training in Planetary Geosciences through 2 main axes.
Axe 1 – Enrichment of the current training program for masters, PhDs, post-docs and young researchers
Action 1 – Student Mobilities between LPG and partners
GeoPlanet offers grants to selected Master and PhD students from :
- LPG to spend time at partner’s institutions for their research work. Two master 2 students/year from the LPG will in particular be selected to realise an internship at the JPL-NASA.
- partners to spend time at LPG for their research work.
Action 2 – Researcher Mobilities between LPG and partners
GeoPlanet offers salaries for :
- junior and senior researchers from partner institutions visiting LPG to collaborate with local researchers, PhDs or postdocs and to give lectures to LPG Master students.
- young researchers and post-docs from partner institutions hosted at the LPG for the “GeoPlanet scientific writing residency“. This is an opportunity during 3-6 months, to write scientific papers on their previous research and to initiate new collaborations with LPG researchers.
Action 3 – Summer School
Three summer schools will be organised :
Axe 2 – Build an international master training program in planetary geosciences
The second line of action focuses on the development of structural links, in terms of training and research, between the partners, to:
- create an international Master in Planetary Geosciences (ERASMUS +) unique in Europe
- build joint responses to international calls for proposals dedicated to training and research (ITN, …)
- ensure the sustainability and the rise of the network by accreting new partners.
In this context, this research and training program will be proposed as an original and currently nonexistent component of the Europlanet consortium which already federates the European scientific community in other areas of planetary science (space exploration, atmospheres of giant planets, exobiology, exoplanets, Solar System evolution, plasmas and particles).
